Professor Cooper is a theoretical physicist. He works on models of synaptic plasticity and on the molecular basis of learning and memory storage. He is also currently working on the problem of how low-level exposure to radiation effects humans, and issues relating to the interpretation of the Quantum Theory. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1972.
